Moss Vale Train Station

Moss Vale Railway Station is a station and intermediate terminus of the Southern Highlands line of the NSW TrainLink intercity network, serving the town of Moss Vale, New South Wales, Australia. The station opened on 2 December 1867 as Sutton Forest, but was renamed as Moss Vale ten years later. It is served by the diesel railcars that use the Southern Highlands Line, but is also served by NSW TrainLink services running between Sydney and Melbourne, Canberra and Griffith.

Station

The station has an unusually wide island platform, which is connected to the station entrance and the street by a pedestrian overpass. The platform included a garden and a private dining room for Governor Belmore who spent the summers in nearby Throsby Park from 1870 to 1872. There is effectively Easy Access to the station. Platform 2 of the station contains a cafe. At the north end there is a dock platform, which was previously used for passenger trains that used the connecting line to Wollongong, the junction for which is just north of the station. Since regular passenger trains no longer use this line (apart from an occasional heritage service), the platform is usually unused except as a storage for freight engines.

There is a grassy area at the south end of the station, with picnic tables in between the platforms.
